Kathryn James

User Experience Research Manager

Flutter UK&I

Kathryn started out in research over a decade ago, working in agency side market research for 8 years before making the transition into user experience research. During her time in agency, Kathryn developed a passion for mixed method research, interested in how both qualitative and quantitative research could address client problems in a range of industries. Keen to be closer to the impact of research in product development, she made the move into UX and is now UX Research Manager within the Design Chapter at Flutter UK&I. A key focus over the last twelve months has been supporting non-researchers in the business to be truly customer and product led, this has involved scaling the access to research tools to enable them to bring customer thinking into the product and design lifecycle from its inception. Changes in technology - especially AI - has made the road to research democratisation in Flutter UKI more attainable than ever before, Kathryn's team are working to train and support more teams in doing research and address the challenge of scaling while protecting quality.
