SHC Universal announces participation in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield program.

SHC Universal, a leader in global healthcare data collection solutions, is pleased to announce its participation in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield program, the replacement for the Safe Harbor agreement with which SHC Universal was already compliant.

Designed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and EU Commission and adopted on July 12, 2016, the Privacy Shield program provides a mechanism to comply with the EU Data Protection requirements when transferring personal data from the EU to the U.S.   As an active participant in this program, SHC Universal has a made a public commitment to its clients, employees and panelists to comply with the Privacy Shield Framework’s requirements.

SHC Universal’s CEO, Jerry Arbittier, comments, “Perhaps W. Edwards Deming, one of the founders of survey sampling, said it best – ‘Drive out Fear.’  Survey quality cannot be maintained unless respondents believe their responses are confidential.  Given the increased concern of privacy, it is probably even more important today than it was when Deming first wrote about survey sampling in 1960.  We are proud to be an early adopter of the Privacy Shield certification, so that we may maintain this long survey sampling tradition.”
