Radio Free Market Research! A Multi-Media Experiment: Radio NewMR

GreenBook Blog, in partnership with NewMR, is launching a trial of a weekly 25-minute broadcast exploring the market research industry.

Remember that classic R.E.M. song “Radio Free Europe“? It was one of the gems of the early ’80s about the joys of radio and the connections between Americans and Europeans forged via that media channel. Well, there is a new trans-Atlantic media partnership being established to bring a web radio show to the market research industry! Based on the success of the “Great Mobile Debate” and the fantastic feedback we received from participants it appears that there is a hunger for more small scale virtual events that deliver engaging and interactive content. Well, being the altruistic (and enterprising!) sorts that we are, we’re working on a way to meet the demand.

Over the next five weeks GreenBook Blog, in partnership with NewMR,  is going to be trialling a new idea: a weekly 25 minute broadcast exploring the news, views, comments, and opinion – which we have initially dubbed Radio NewMR. The sessions will be hosted by a combination of Ray Poynter, Andrew Jeavons, and myself. Each broadcast will involve several guests addressing key topics of interest, start-ups, and in some cases just something guests want to get off their chest. We’re lining up quite the list of guests and believe the shows will be interesting, informative, lively, and fun!

The five broadcasts are going to be at 3pm London time, 10am New York time, on the next five Tuesdays, starting with Tuesday 19th July. For this pilot we will be using the GoToWebinar platform, in the future we want to look at platforms designed for radio shows.

The material will be audio only, so you will be able to listen to whilst you work, or download the podcast for later. These five events will be free.

To find out more about Radio NewMR, to see the upcoming program, to sign-up to attend, or to suggest yourself as a guest on the show visit the NewMR website. We are particularly keen to hear from new and innovative start-ups.

To sign-up to listen to the shows REGISTER HERE, you should need to only sign up once to attend all five broadcasts.

We’re already lining up some fantastic guest spots with leaders in the global industry, although the program is an evolving thing. While I am at the Market Research in the Mobile World conference, Ray and Andrew will be kicking things off with an interview with the Guru of Gamification: Betty Adamou!

Keep checking the NewMR website for updates on future guests and topics.

One feature we will be running, will be “One thing I would change about market research”, you will have 60 seconds to make you point about the one thing you would like to change.Consider your opportunity to deliver the rant you’ve always wanted to!

If the concept works well the idea will be expanded later in the year into a larger format with a wider range of players, contributors, and events. We have some really interesting ideas we’re very excited about and hope that all of our colleagues find value in what we’re trying to do so that we can make them a reality.

We’re looking forward to having you join us as a guest, participant, or listener on Radio NewMR!
