Where Research Meets Reinvention: Why Le Printemps des études Is Worth the Trip to Paris

Where Research Meets Reinvention: Why Le Printemps des études Is Worth the Trip to Paris

On September 24–25, Le Printemps des études brings the research and insights community to Paris to explore how AI, new methodologies, and human expertise are reshaping decision-making.

On September 24 and 25, 2026, Le Printemps des études returns to the Palais des Congrès in Paris for its 14th edition, bringing together the French and international research, data, insights, and marketing community.

For international insights professionals, that offers something particularly valuable: direct access to a French-speaking research ecosystem they may not encounter at other global industry events, alongside international agencies, innovators, client-side researchers, associations, and technology providers.

But this year's gathering arrives at a particularly interesting moment for the profession.

As artificial intelligence becomes capable of collecting information, analyzing it, generating insights, and increasingly supporting what happens next, researchers are confronting a bigger question: How should organizations rethink decision-making in the AI era?

In Paris, that question will move from theory to practice.

What Makes Le Printemps des études Different?

Le Printemps des études is designed around a balance between exhibition and content. Conferences, workshops, guided tours, data pitches, demonstrations, and conversations with research providers all take place across the two-day event.

Just as important is the balance of people in the room. Since its beginning, the event has aimed to connect research agencies with the client-side professionals using their work. Attendees include leaders and practitioners across market research, marketing, insights, data, and innovation, as well as agency professionals and CEOs.

For an international attendee, that mix provides a window into how the French-speaking research community is responding to many of the same challenges affecting the global industry. It also creates opportunities to discover emerging companies and methodologies, compare approaches with peers, and see how new research technologies are being put into practice rather than simply discussed.

And there is one benefit the organizers make no attempt to overcomplicate: you get to spend two days in Paris!

Why Is Decision-Making at the Center of the 2026 Event?

The core question behind this year's program is how organizations should rethink decision-making in an AI era. There may not be a single answer.

Some tasks and decisions may increasingly be handled by AI. Others will require collaboration between technology and human expertise. And there will remain areas where human judgment is essential.

That distinction has particular relevance for insights professionals. Research has always existed somewhere between information and action. Understanding consumers, employees, citizens, and markets matters because organizations ultimately have to decide what to do with what they learn.

As AI becomes embedded in more of that process, the research profession has an opportunity to help determine not only what the technology can do, but where interpretation, context, and judgment still matter.

The organizers describe this as maintaining a place for "human irreducibility": the idea that even as AI takes on more research and decision-making tasks, some forms of judgment remain fundamentally human. That tension between technological possibility and human responsibility will run throughout the event.

What Should Attendees Look for in the 2026 Program?

This year's program puts several of those questions into practical settings, including a number of firsts for the event.

Social intelligence gets its own morning. On Friday, September 25, Le Printemps des études will hold its first Social Intelligence Morning, with three conferences examining developments in social listening and business intelligence.

Generative AI goes live. The closing conference on Friday will feature live demonstrations of the latest generative AI technologies, including interactions with the audience. Rather than simply talking about what the technology could do, attendees will be able to see it in action.

Synthetic personas and AI move into the research workflow. The event's Expertise Benchmark Workshops will explore applications including synthetic personas, panel segmentation, and AI-assisted dissemination of research results.

The business value of insights remains part of the conversation. Testimonials and Feedback conferences will examine the tension between short- and long-term brand strategies, how insights can improve marketing ROI, and how organizations can strengthen the value of the market research function internally.

Together, these topics reflect how quickly the AI conversation in research is maturing. The question is increasingly less about whether researchers should use AI and more about where it belongs in the workflow, how it should be used, and where human expertise remains indispensable.

Who Attends Le Printemps des études?

Client-side researchers make up an important part of the Le Printemps des études audience, including leaders working across market research, marketing, insights, data, and innovation.

They are joined by research agency professionals, CEOs, technology companies, professional associations, trade organizations, and industry media.

That mix is intentional. The organizers see one of the event's primary roles as creating connections between research providers and the organizations using research to make decisions, as well as creating opportunities for peers to learn from one another. For international visitors, it is also an opportunity to engage directly with the French-speaking research community.

After 14 editions, Le Printemps des études has become a key gathering point for that community while continuing to expand its international presence. The French government has awarded the event an "international event" label recognizing its international participation and importance.

What Does This Year's Event Say About Where Research Is Heading?

Every research conference in 2026 has to contend with AI. The more interesting question is what comes after acknowledging it.

Which tasks should machines handle? Where should researchers work alongside AI? Where does human judgment remain indispensable? And how can insights teams make sure faster research ultimately leads to better decisions rather than simply more output?

Le Printemps des études offers a place to examine those questions through the perspectives of agencies, brands, technology companies, and research professionals who are already confronting them.

That may ultimately be the biggest reason to make the trip. For an industry reconsidering how research, technology, and human judgment fit together, Paris may be an especially fitting place to ask what comes next.

Le Printemps des études takes place September 24–25, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès, Porte Maillot, Paris. Explore the 2026 program and plan your visit on the Le Printemps des études website.
