Introductory Presentation by Greenbook + Tech Demos with Live Q&A
Much like business success itself, the familiar quotation I am convinced that about one-half the money I spend for advertising is wasted, but I have never been able to decide which half has been variously attributed to different sources. All agree the sentiment is at least 100 years old, meaning the mystery around the cause-and-effect of advertising pre-dates television, ecommerce, streaming services, and many other modern modes of promotion.
Beyond the proliferation of types of media that can support advertising, decrypting advertising effectiveness is continually complicated by the desire to reach ever more granular audiences, the murky interactions across multiple messaging media, and, of course, the pressure to make decisions nimbly and quickly. Fortunately, science continually improves its ability to identify and quantify how advertising affects individual perceptions and behavior while technology makes these solutions accessible, practical, and timely.
Advertising testing platforms offer a range of efficient tools that give you more control over how your messages and implementations affect what people in your target market think and how they behave. Whether you are creating a general concept or refining how you execute one, you can pre-test them via surveys or qualitative research, digital A/B tests, eye tracking, neuromarketing, and many other methods on-demand and on your own.
Going beyond general-purpose research technology, advertising testing platforms can provide research templates for particular kinds of tests, including presentation of stimuli, descriptive and predictive analytics, and reporting and dashboarding. Some integrate their own databases of relevant norms, and many power their technology with AI to provide deeper and more efficient analysis and prediction. In fact, some claim to have AI models that can accurately test advertising impact without involving a human subject!
According to the GRIT Report, three of four market researchers have a role in advertising research, and nearly half of full-service research suppliers offer advertising consulting services, so chances are high that you can learn something valuable from this showcase. Even those who are not directly involved in ad testing may be interested to see how technology can bring together diverse methods such as survey research and biometrics while leveraging AI to decode human emotion and forecast behavior.

There continues to be a big difference in what consumers say they will do in forced research environments, and what they actually end up doing in the real-world -- creating an ongoing challenge of confidently translating research to business success. At Orchard, we design real-world research experiments in the same digital feeds where consumers live and make decisions every day – without them knowing it’s a test. It’s leaps and bounds beyond passive social listening and constrained A/B testing. Most importantly, we don’t rely on incentivized respondents, allowing us to eliminate traditional survey biases. Join our demo to learn how to transform your approach to research by tapping into social media and testing ideas “in the wild” for truly predictive insights that in turn translate to business growth.
